The Waterford, Connecticut Green Party (WGP) will hold a benefit concert called “Beats for the Balkans” at the pavilions located at Waterford Beach Park on Sunday, August 17, 2014. This event is also a Waterford Week companion event, as it aims to bring together the local community to support a common cause. Admission to the outdoor concert is $5.00 per person, and all proceeds from the event shall be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme for the purpose of providing food to those who were impacted by the catastrophic floods in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina that occurred in early May. The concert will feature a wide array of music performed by local bands and solo artists who are donating their time and talents to this cause. The concert will begin at 1pm and will end by 5pm. Members of the community are invited to bring chairs, blankets, food, and beverages to the event for their enjoyment. Due to the location of the concert, individuals will have to pay a fee to enter the Waterford Beach Park before arriving at the concert, so it is highly suggested that individuals carpool or park elsewhere and walk into the park to avoid heavy fees. Out of town visitors wishing to attend the concert may avoid out-of-town fees by email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and asking to be put on a guest list. Groups or individuals wishing to perform at the concert may email the WGP at the same address to express their interest.
